Sweet Elsa
We are writing to inform you that our sweet Elsa crossed the Rainbow Bridge on October 15, 2025. While we knew adopting a senior beagle would mean less time with her, having to say goodbye came too soon.
Elsa was the best girl. She was sweet, gentle, silly, and shy. Elsa enjoyed rolling in the grass and soaking up the sun. She loved her daily walks, preferably no less than three per day. Even the winter weather did not deter her. She was eager to put on her winter coat and boots, because she knew it meant a walk would soon follow. Elsa was a top performing kitchen supervisor, who made sure that all cooking operations were up to code and demanded only cucumbers for pay. She loved her stuffed toys, especially her Cupig. She never chewed them but carried them from dog bed to dog bed. She was an expert sock thief. If a sock went missing, it would surely be found in a dog bed with her toys. She was also a world class rabbit tracker who let the entire neighborhood know she was on the job. She never turned down a good belly rub or back scratch. She had the cutest faces when she slept. Too many to count. We will forever miss Elsa’s light and her beautiful soul.
We are so grateful that Midwest BREW allowed us to bring her into our family almost four years ago. Thank you to her foster family who took such great care of her until she was ready for adoption. We feel very blessed that she was a part of our lives.

Fred
It is with the deepest sadness that I am writing to notify Midwest BREW of our boy, Fred’s, passing. He passed away back in March of this year after an unexpected diagnosis of a fast-growing cancerous tumor in his pancreas. After multiple tests, medications and discussions with his vet care team, he crossed the rainbow bridge after one last afternoon at his favorite park, silently judging the ducks on the pond from the comfort of his blanket.
A hole has been left behind that has left us shaken all year and even as I write this, I feel his absence. I don’t mean to be dramatic but he was really my best friend. We adopted him from Midwest BREW when he was 5 and he was by my side almost every day until he was 12. In the last few years, he seemed to be aging in reverse – he had more energy than ever and was becoming more outgoing – we could never have expected his abrupt turn for the worst.
We try to find solace in that his suffering was short-lived and that he is at peace now. I ask that all my fellow beagle parents take a moment every day to appreciate their one of-a-kind beagle buddy. You really never know how much time you have left with them.

Romeo
I am emailing to let you know that Romeo who was adopted from BREW in March 2019 has passed away from congestive heart failure. He crossed the rainbow Bridge on November 17 and joined his brother Archie for new adventures in heaven. He was a delight from the day I adopted him and instantly bonded with his brother. They had many adventures in the backyard, chasing squirrels and chipmunks and helping their mom in the garden. They enjoyed snuggling together on the couch and of course eating.
Romeo was the good boy and I never saw him get mad. In January of this year his heart murmur got worse and he began medications for early heart failure. His two veterinarians added two additional medications to keep him stable, and he continued to enjoy doing his beagle thing. Unfortunately, his heart went into arrhythmia on November 17th and he passed suddenly from that.
I would like to think Midwest beagle for all you do and allowing me to be Romeo’s mom.

Cleo
I’m writing to update you that our sweet beagle Cleo passed the Rainbow Bridge after spending the last 7 wonderful years with our family and growing up with our two kids. She came to us as rescue from Brew Beagles in 2018. At first, she was incredibly skinny, timid and didn’t even know how to walk up the steps after living in a barn her whole life. She quickly became a devoted part of the family and enjoyed multiple walks a day – if it was up to her we’d never turn back home and would always keep going north. That was her favorite direction. We never knew her age, so when people asked we just told them she was “ageless.” She will always be ageless in our minds. We will always love Cleo and thank you at Brew for bringing her into our lives.

Ruby and Bullet
Ruby and Bullet, two ‘siblings’ that came to Midwest BREW last summer. In the Spring, their Dad suddenly passed away, and several weeks later, their Mom had a stroke. Ruby (8yo) was adopted at Beaglefest by a wonderful alumni adopter and BREW decided that Bullet (15) would remain with his foster parents, as adapting to another new home at his age might be too much for him. The foster mom received a text from Ruby’s owner last week that she had passed away in her sleep. Unfortunately, Bullet also crossed the Rainbow Bridge this week.
Thankfully, they are both together knowing they were loved as they journey to the Rainbow Bridge. Feb 26, 2026.

Meggie
Our dear sweet Meggie, We drove to Bowling Green Ohio to meet your foster parents
and bring you to your forever home with us in Michigan. You were so scared to get in
our car, once you got in you had a new bed and toy, with many more toys once we got
you home. The next day you realized you had a nice fenced in yard with lots of room for
zoomies and friends next door to run up and down the fence with. We soon realized
when we stepped away you found the bed that allowed you to look out the window
waiting for the car to pull up. You so enjoyed going on car rides, walks and all the
friends you had met. Best of all you loved laying in your yard sunning the day away. We
knew you loved us and were living the dream and you knew we loved you
unconditionally. You had the best life. We never imagined we would only have you for
five short years when cancer came out of nowhere and shut your body down in two
weeks. We miss you everyday.
